I decided to wait until the Christmas Season was over to ask this question. I’m fairly certain that during one of the most stressful times of the year, not many would pick Christmas. So, what is your favorite holiday and why? It doesn’t have to be a long answer. In my next post I will tell you my favorite holiday and why it’s my favorite.
On another subject, I’d like to thank all of you who made purchases on Amazon through my site. I don’t know who ordered what, but I managed to make enough money to cover my hosting fees for a month. A whopping $10.00. More importantly, I know that it is possible to make money with websites, so I am moving forward with the two new ones that I am currently working on.
From all of the messages that I received, it sounds like everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I am thankful for that. If most of you are like myself, you’ve got a few more days to eat anything that you want before the New Years resolutions kick in. Enjoy…

WHY THANKSGIVING IS MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY!
Good eats, no presents to buy, football, a parade, no need to go to church…
a holiday during which it is acceptable to drink a lot, stuff yourself, and then lose consciousness. What’s not to love? We should have a holiday like this every three months, if not every month.
Seriously, I think what I like best about Thanksgiving is its inherent simplicity. You gather together family and friends to share a meal and to consider all that we have to be thankful for in our lives. Autumn is also my favorite time of year. Love, love, love the fall foliage and the cool temps.
No one’s expecting shiny wrapped presents. Thanksgiving has a nice nondenominational feel to it. You don’t have to be member of any certain religious faith to celebrate it. Just have enough humility to give thanks for what we’ve been given. I enjoy saying grace at our meal.
I love the intoxicating aromas of Thanksgiving. The turkey roasting in the oven, the pumpkin pie baking. The smell of cloves and cinnamon. A crackling fire in the fireplace.
On Thanksgiving, when we stop to think about all we have to be thankful for, we may be thinking, well, that we have a little bit less this year…our home value may have dropped, our retirement portfolio may have shrunk. But when we look around the table at our loved ones, I’m betting that most of us will be thinking we still have so much for which to be thankful.
I guess most of all, for me, Thanksgiving is about coming home. Families traveling miles just to be together and break a little bread…and turkey, and dressing, and cranberries, and sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes, and gravy.
Thanks Billie for asking… I’m eager to hear yours!
Renee,
What a wonderful description of Thanksgiving. If I had had the same Thanksgiving experiences that you have had, I am sure that Thanksgiving would also be my favorite holiday. Your writing paints a picture with all of the aromas of the holidays. Hopefully, one of these years we will be able to share Thanksgiving together.

Hi Billie,
This is an interesting question, but I do have a favorite holiday. The holiday is Thanksgiving, it is a great time to get together, feast and enjoy your company with everyone enjoying themselves and no one expecting anything. Nobody disappointed on whether it is the right gift or not, and no one hurrying up to go anywhere, it is just a very peaceful holiday for us and always have been, we are just thankful for everyone to be able to get together. I love that holiday and I think I enjoy it the most, all I have to shop for is the meal, what a great feeling. Can’t wait to see what your favorite holiday is. But I am very thankful for all of my blessings. Andrea P.S. That will the the New Years Resolution, eat healthier and with that should come weight loss. We will see. Love your stories and say hello to your husband, we have about 11″ of snow today and of course it was very pretty coming down. Sure you aren’t cold
Catch you later. Andrea
Andrea,
Thank you so much for your warm thoughts about Thanksgiving. If things had turned out differently with Greg and I, I’m sure we would have been sharing many Thanksgivings together. Too bad, it would have been fun.
With all of that snow, try to keep warm and stay well.
Billie
Hi,
My favorite holiday is Christmas…I know that we put all kinds of stress on ourselves, but under it all is the true meaning of Christmas, it has always been there and as hard as they they try to get rid of it, it will always be there. Christmas is the hope of all mankind.
Love, Phyllis
Phyllis,
What a beautiful thought. Too bad more people don’t realize the true meaning of Christmas and just learn to enjoy it like you do. It would certainly be a lot less stressful.
