About a week ago I saw an ad in the newspaper for a free pool party at the Palms Resort. I asked three friends if they wanted to join Tom and I for the day. I knew that the place was going to be packed since all of the resorts charge $10 or more to use their pools for the day so we headed out early to get five chairs together.

The weather was beautiful, as you can see from the pictures. They had live music playing all day so the atmosphere was lively. Food was also available for purchase.

There were a lot of families with small children so they had ice cream eating contests, hot dog eating contests as well as drawings.
We were there from 10 AM until 5 PM when the party ended. We headed out to dinner at the only bar/restaurant on the island that is on the beach and not part of a resort. We had a wonderful, relaxing day with our new friends.

The tsunami is supposed to hit us within four hours. We are about a mile from the beach, up on a small hill, on the third floor of an apartment building. We should be safe.

Glad the tsunami turned out to be a bust. I watch it hit Hawaii on TV. Looked like high tide and back again often. I saw the video of the one that struck Asia a couple years ago, so was expecting it to be more like that. That was a close one.

Me too. I have lots more stories to write, but fortunately getting hit by a tsunami is not one of them.
