Diane

I met my friend Diane in 1977.  I had just signed a contract with Cathryn James, my new manager.  Cathryn introduced me to one of her up-and-coming stars, Diane Robin, and we hit it off immediately.  Diane has to be one of the funniest people that I have ever met.  When we started hanging out together, I always felt very protective of her because she was a “little bit” younger than me and the guys were knocking down the doors to get to her.

At the time, Diane was performing in a play.  In Los Angeles, this meant that she was a serious actress and not just another pretty face.  Well, it didn’t take long for the television and movies to find her.  Within the year she landed on her first television series, “Angie,” playing the part of Diedre “Didi” Malloy.

When I left Los Angeles in 1979, the hardest part about leaving was saying goodbye to my good friend, Di.  Of course it wasn’t really goodbye.  We’ve stayed in close touch over the years and whenever she comes to Las Vegas or I get to L.A., we always make it a point to visit with each other.

Diane is now happily married to John Johnson and she is now going by the name Diane Johnson.  You can check out her resume on ”The Internet Movie Database” to see many of her accomplishments.

To tell you that Di is a wonderful, warm and caring woman would be an understatement and I’m sure her 92 year old mother would agree with me.  I love my friend Diane and I’m very happy that she is a part of my life.

Oh Billie I love you right back. You are the salt of the earth, and I consider myself lucky to have had you as a friend all these years. You are as beautiful now as when I met you, but I would appreciate it if you could get a wrinkle.XXXOOODi

    Di,
Only a really good friend would make a comment like that. Come to Vegas soon and bring your Mom. I miss you and can’t wait to see you.
    Love, Billie

Finally finished reading everything and it was like reading a book that you can’t put down. I can’t wait for you to write more. Cheryl

    Cheryl,
You are so sweet to say that. I will be writing so much more in the future but right now (as you have read) I have something very big about to happen in my life (soon to be announced). As soon as I get that underway, I will have plenty of time to write. Stay tuned ;)

Hey Diane I’ve been a fan of yours for many years ever since I saw you in robocop. Do you have a personal website?

  • Diane

No I don’t have a website, but that’s very sweet to hear that you’re a fan. Thanks for making my day.Diane

Hey no worries. That’s a shame maybe you need to sign up to facebook so that I can be one of your(many) fans. You are beautiful. The image of you wearing that leather dress(in robocop)is something that is still so vivid from my teenage years; you still look so good twenty years on.

Sorry for being a nuisance, and this will be my last question I promise, but I am fascinated with the movie, Robocop; I am currently working on an unofficial robocop website. I just wondered whether or not you knew of or had any un-seen footage or out-takes from your scene that I could use? I have emailed other cast members who so far have been a little non-receptive. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity of speaking to you, it’s been a real honour.

Dear Teddy, You are so sweet, I wish I could be of more help but unfortunately I don’t have any footage from the film. But I look forward to seeing your website, please let me know when it’s up. Wishing you all the luck on the world with all your endeavors. Love Diane

I was thinking about a friend that I met many years ago while performing in LA. Woke up and googled Diane Robin!!! Thrilled to find her and impressed by the body of work that she has accomplished.
I am not sure who I am writing to at the moment, however I would love to make contact with Diane.
I stayed in her apartment complex while performing in a production of Zorba with Anthony Quinn. We quickly became friends and I have never forgotten her and the great time that we had together while there.
I married Ron, who was with me at the time and had 2 sons who are all grown up. Still married, I live in New Jersey and also have an apartment in the city.
I remember Diane as giving, beautiful and funny. She called me ” Chino”.
If anyone can give her my e-mail or send me a contact, I would be most appreciative. Karen Giombetti bettigiom@comcast.net
    Thanks
