I left the Children’s Home the week after I graduated from high school, which was one week before my eighteenth birthday. I had no money and no where to go, so I took the first secretarial job that I was offered. I spent the next two years living with friends, families and by myself, in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. During these two years I held various jobs.
I loved being on my own, but I was totally unprepared for all of the things that were about to happen. When I left the Children’s Home, I had never tried alcohol or drugs and I was still a virgin. Over the next two years I experimented with drugs and alcohol, I was in a horrible car accident, I was raped, beaten and also had an abortion.
To learn about the details of some of these experiences, read the individual stories. There’s lots more to come.
